Our store provides a very appealing and unique experience, whether you are a casual shopper or are in need of a quick cash loan.
When many people walk into our store for the first time, they literally say, "Wow!". We pride ourselves on the fact that Pawn Planet is the cleanest and neatest pawn shop anywhere.
Our decor is a casual rustic outdoorsy theme featuring barn wood looking walls, corrugated tin walls, wildlife mounts and a custom-made upstairs sitting balcony made out of white cedar log trees.
Alongside the aesthetically pleasing interior, our customer service is second to none! Every customer is greeted with a smile at entry. We don't wait for a customer to ask for help, we offer it first.
We have frequent sales and specials throughout our store! Follow us on Facebook to be the first to find out about daily specials and new items for sale!
We are currently discussing which event to bring to the store next and discussing dates. We have a few ideas we are considering.
Pawn Planet LLC is owned by Jesse and Debbie Spangenberg. This is the story of how the Mountain Home location came to be!
While we are the “new kids on the block”, meaning having the newest pawn shop in Mountain Home, I assure you that I (Debbie) am not new to the pawn industry. I started in the pawn business in 1994 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In 1995 I returned back to this area and opened our own store in Mountain Home with my spouse at that time. We opened a store in West Plains, Missouri that we sold after a short time. Then we opened another store in Harrison, Arkansas. In 2015, we parted ways and I sold out my interest in the stores. I pursued other interests, including real estate, after I met and married Jesse.
Together we built a portfolio of commercial, residential and our dream hunting land.
Jesse was a boilermaker by trade. He had worked on the road all over the country for many years and was ready for a change. He considered all of his interests and local options but was unable to find something that would satisfy him.
During this time, we were making some improvements to our large commercial building. A random comment by him while we are driving down the road, timed perfectly with a sleepless night I had just the night before (but never told him) put all of this in motion.
As we drove through town and passed by our building, he said “You know, that would make a perfect location for a pawn shop”. I nearly choked and asked him why he would say something like that. His reply was “Because it would!”. It was then that I told him I had those very same thoughts the night before and tossed and turned all night considering the possibility.
We thought about it for a few months, then in January gave our renters notice of our intent to end their lease at the end of July. Giving them over 6 months notice. I quit my job at the same time and we started building our store.
We are both Christians. I have always felt His presence at work in my life. I know He is the one that sent me a willing partner, THAT building, that sleepless night followed by Jesse’s random comment while driving down the road the next day, and all in His time, perfect timing!
We are truly blessed and all glory goes to God!

While the media may portray pawn shops as dark, dingy, shady or unethical, the first known pawn transactions occurred when the Queen of England pawned her royal jewels to finance Christopher Columbus' journey. Since that time, however, the reputation of the pawn business has been vastly tarnished by media depiction.
One thing the media fails to show about the pawn industry is how much more highly regulated it is over most other retail businesses. There are so many more facets to the pawn industry making it more unique. While pawn shops are a shoppers delight for a great bargain on like-new merchandise they are a relief for someone facing a cash crunch.
Regulated by Federal, State and local laws, the pawn process is very detailed. All merchandise pawned or sold at any pawn shop is reported to law enforcement, mostly through the nationally used LEADS Online program. This fact alone makes your local pawn shop less than ideal for thieves. Studies show that less than 1/10 of 1% of stolen merchandise ever makes it to a pawn shop. Would-be criminals find other means of disposing of goods. That usually consist of online sales platforms, garage sales, Joe Blow on the corner, auctions, flea markets, etc.
